By Still Waters I

End of the Day

Two loaves yeast bread
Four loaves pumpkin
Made from shining orange pulp
Harvested from its home
Laundry received several blows
But steadfastly pushed its advantage forward
Dishes subdued throughout the day
Some receiving extended punishment
(In the sink for the night)
Instructed in the Word
Sent out to play on this cool winter
Running, planning, scheming
Till dark
The night air welcomed itself inside
As they came in rosy-cheeked
Daily bread on the table
All sit around
And partake

End of the Day
