The New Year stands before us like an open door to an unknown land. What will be waiting for us after we cross the threshold? How will we know what paths we should take and what paths we should avoid? What decisions will we face, and how will we discern the right way? Psalm 25:9 reads: “The meek will He guide in judgment, and the meek will He teach His way.” Ah, here we have it: going to God in true humility, understanding that we have and are nothing and that God is all Wisdom. As the minute hand sweeps around the clock face, bringing us closer and closer to the threshold of the unknown, may our fervent prayer and desire be to walk in meekness in 2017.
- Gentle Wisdom
- What day, hour, minute, second goes by but that we need wisdom? Oh, I feel the lack of wisdom every day. I am glad that God has given me a mind that has been called a “mega processor”, but how often do I rely on “my” ability to mega process and therefore do not pray? Or, how often do I simply not realize or recognize that there are weaknesses in my ability to process and think through certain challenging areas for me and just blunder on ahead?
- O Lord, cause me to remember to pray and to ask for wisdom – expecting the promise of liberality and gentleness from you. Amen.
- James, by the inspiration of the Holy Ghost writes the following to God’ people:
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all liberally, and upbraideth not, and it shall be given him.”
